Production Notes
Pairs nicely with red-sauced pastas, braised short ribs, lasagne, meatloaf or cheese burgers. As a side dish – serve caramelized roast veggies. Due to the savoury or ‘umami’ note in this wine - try tomato-based Italian dishes and roast chicken, mushrooms and parmesan.
The grapes for our Merlot were sourced from vineyards in Osoyoos and Oliver, B.C. that are composed of mostly gravel and sandy soils. The history of Merlot wine shows us that this grape has proven to be very versatile. Not only does Merlot make excellent wine all by itself, but it is often blended to add softness to other varietals of red wine. Merlot is now the prominent grape used as the base when crafting many Okanagan red blends, and is the number one red varietal planted. Our Merlot was aged 12 months in 25% new French oak.
