2018 Lava Red

Description:

Our easy drinking go-to wine.  Expect to discover aromas of cherry, raspberry, fig, almond paste, and bacon on the nose. On the palate this mildly sweet wine is balanced with soft tannins and mouth-watering flavours of cherry, chocolate covered raisins, raspberry, and a touch of smoke and anise on the smooth finish.

Perfect Pairing:

A wine that pairs perfectly with fresh air and days that end in Y.  This is one sipper made for your sweet and spicy evenings.  Enjoy with 60% or 70% Dark Chocolate, Enchiladas with Mole sauce, meat lover’s pizza, braised short ribs, or pulled pork.

Additional Information:

Try chilling this red, or serve at room temperature. It’s best consumed within 4 years of vintage.

Production Notes

Vineyard Notes

The grape varieties used in this semi-sweet red blend are: 36.8% Zweigelt, 30.7% Merlot, 17.3% Marechal Foch, and 15.2% Pinot Noir. Each of these unique varieties was fermented separately and then barrel-aged for 15 months in French and American oak barrels. Zweigelt Icewine was then added just prior to bottling for a touch of balanced sweetness.

We have had the opportunity to visit your Winery twice in recent years, while visiting the Okanaghan area.
Our groups at the time noted how pleasant, and different the Lava Red tasted compared to other Red Wines. To this date this is my personal favourite over other reds by far.
