Production Notes
Grapes for the 2019 Syrah were sourced from our grower in Osoyoos, (South Okanagan Valley) B.C. The vines, which are grafted onto rootstock, were approximately 15 years old at harvest, and thrive in the silt and sandy loam soils of the hot, desert-like climate. Grapes were picked by hand on October 18, 2019. The wine spent 11 months in 100% Neutral French oak.
Each bottle is better than the next! Can't go wrong with any of the wines from Volcanic!
Nice medium red. Super easy and tasty.
Sent to family in Ontario as a Christmas gift. Everything received as promised, perfectly.
This is a serious, well-made wine. The colour is a deep, intense ruby, slightly lighter at the rim. The complex nose gives aromas of stewed plum, dark berries, graphite, and some earthiness. The palate is equally rich and concentrated with flavours of plum, dark cherry, and tobacco. The structure feels wonderful with very smooth tannins, medium plus body, and a fairly long finish. For me this is the best of all their reds and I look forward to drinking it again, perhaps with wild game, stewed beef, or strong cheese.
One of the very best in the Okanagan! Beautiful on the palate with a lingering after taste.
