Our easy drinking go-to wine.  Expect to discover aromas of dark plums, dried figs, glossette raisins, and holiday fruit cake. On the palate this off-dry wine is balanced with soft tannins and mouth-watering flavours of juicy plums, cocoa powder, vanilla bean and sweet baking spices on the smooth finish. Best served just below room temperature.

Perfect Pairing:

A wine that pairs perfectly with fresh air and days that end in Y.  This is one sipper made for your sweet and spicy evenings.  Enjoy with 60% or 70% Dark Chocolate, Honey Glazed Ham, Charcuterie, Enchiladas with Mole sauce, braised short ribs, chilli, Bok choy in soya sauce or grilled asparagus.

Production Notes

Vineyard Notes

The majority of the fruit used in this semi-sweet red blend came from the 2022 Vintage.  This wine is our signature blend of 59% Zweigelt, 13% Merlot, 14% Marechal Foch, 7% Riesling, 7% Cabernet Franc. Each of these unique varieties was fermented separately and then barrel-aged for 12 months in French Oak.  A small portion of the Foch used saw ageing in American Oak. Just before bottling 2023 Riesling and Zweigelt Late Harvest was blended into the finished wine for a touch of balanced sweetness

Nice patio wine

This red is delicious and easy to sip on the patio. Nice balance of sweet cherry, vanilla even hints of choc.

Wonderfully Juicey!

Lava Red was a great pre-dinner red. Bold with some sweetness. Nice berry tones with a great finish.

Lava Red - The Red I Forgot I Loved

I renewed my love of this wine during a visit to the winery last summer. Fast forward I rejoined the wine club and received bottle. This is a flavorful, easy drinking wine. Good in its own or with a meal! I recommend it!
