In 2021, the Gidda family introduced Kissan, a wine brand inspired by the generations of farmers who came before us.

“Kissan” means farmer, and the name reflects a family story rooted in agriculture. From our great-grandfather Mehtab Singh’s farm in India to the Okanagan apple orchards he began tending in 1965, and the vineyards our family farms today, Kissan was created to honour our connection to the land.

Originally made exclusively for restaurants and hospitality partners, these wines were rarely available directly to our winery customers. Now, for a limited time, we are opening the cellar and bringing together three Kissan wines and three Volcanic Hills favourites in one specially priced red wine collection.

It is an opportunity to discover a lesser-known chapter of our family’s winemaking story and enjoy exceptional Okanagan reds at case-lot pricing.

2021 Kissan Marechal Foch
Medium-bodied with dried plum, cherry and baking spice, balanced by juicy acidity and structured tannins.

2021 Kissan Zweigelt
Ripe blackberry, cherry and cranberry meet notes of cocoa and anise, with fine tannins on the finish.

2019 Kissan Merlot
Black cherry, cocoa and sagebrush with soft, plush tannins and an elegant, beautifully matured finish.

Ordered the 12 bottle promotion. Arrived as promised. Upon delivery I had a question on pairing so I texted the winery hoping to get an answer as quickly as possible. I was floored that Volcanic Hills Winery replied faster than expected. Very impressed. And the pairing suggestion was perfect. I would highly recommend Volcanic Hills wines.

A nice surprise

I thought they may all have something wrong with them which is why it was a great price for a case. Tried the Merlots and Zweigelt which were both pretty good. Worth trying!

Have not yet tasted any of the collection we just ordered, however anything we have purchased has always been DELICIOUS! Wanting for a special occasion.

First tastes of Collection

So far I’ve only tried the Marechal Foch & the Zweigelt. I found the Marechal quite nice and would likely make it a repeat. However, I was not happy with the Zweigelt. I found it had a decent nose but overall taste and finish was just not pleasant for my palette. For reference, my favourite Volcanic wine is Lava Red.
